Build Diary: Guardian Home Extension

Week four in the diary of a Guardian Home Extension build in Dublin.
We’re back with Sara and Stephen for week four of their Guardian Home Extension with VELUX roof windows build. This week we join as the build sees some big changes. If you missed the previous instalments, you might want to catch up on Guardian Home Extension: Week Three Build Diary. This week saw the outside of Sara and Stephen Guardian Home Extension pretty much completed, whilst inside was made ready for decoration.

Let’s hear from the homeowner

This last week has seen big changes to our Guardian Home Extension. Outside is almost much finished. I still cannot quite believe that in four weeks we’ve gone from grass, to the build being nearly completed. When Stephen and I first discussed a home extension I honestly thought getting to this stage would take months.

Inside, now that the plastering has been completed, it doesn’t feel like a building site anymore – it feels like our home.

Build week four

We ended last week with external boarding up ready for rendering. Inside we saw the first fix of electrics going in, and the plasterboarding going up. Progress this week has been tremendous, not only have all windows been replaced, but the outside of the Guardian Home Extension is reaching it’s final stages whilst inside is now ready for decoration. Week four has seen:
  • External rendering.
  • Roof completed.
  • Internal plastering.
  • Windows replaced throughout.

Day one

Week four began with the big job of replacing all windows throughout the house with energy efficient modern double glazing.

Day two

Day two saw the Guardian Warm Roof finishing tiles go down. Lightweight charcoal Guardian Tiles were chosen to compliment the tiles of the existing home.

Day three

The exterior of the Guardian Home Extension got it’s smooth render finish on day four. Not only were the walls nearly finished, but the remainder of the roof tiles went on.

Day four

By day four, the internal plastering had been complete. At this stage, the Guardian Home Extension instantly goes from a work in progress, to a job nearly finished.

Day five

By day five, the team were ready to put the final finish on the exterior walls. The roof saw the ridge tiles installer, and the guttering go up. It’s safe to say this Guardian Home Extension is on the home straight.

What’s next?

We’re just four weeks into the Guardian Home Extension build and we’ve reached the stage where the exterior is completed, even down to the guttering being in place. Inside, the plaster is on and drying. Next is what many people refer to as the fun bit. We’ll see the inside decor taking shape, and the external landscaping transform the garden.

Join us next week as this Guardian Home Extension build in it’s final stages.
